The great samurai who once stopped the wide fire, earned the title of “Fire-Eating Bird”, and this was Matsunaga Gengo, who used to be the best firefighting warrior of the Edo period. Due to some personal reasons, he quit the fire brigade and soon got an offer from the Shinjo clan. The firefighting team of the Shinjo clan is too poor, understaffed, and treated disrespectfully. Gengo gains encouragement from his wife, Miyuki, and decides to restore this firefighting clan as a leader. He, along with his unusual group, struggles to save lives, still mocked by people who call them the Boro-Tubi-Gumi, the “ragged steeplejacks”. Meanwhile, there start mysterious fires, known as ‘foxfires’ in the Edo.
