Hinako Yaotose lost her family years ago and now lives quietly by the seaside, feeling hollow and detached. One day, she meets a mysterious mermaid yōkai named Shiori Oumi, who says softly: “I’ve come to eat you.” But Shiori also offers to protect Hinako from other monsters who are drawn to her — because Hinako’s flesh and blood are said to be exceptionally delicious to yōkai. The series explores themes of grief, acceptance, desire, and strange affection amidst supernatural tension. The anime is animated by Studio Lings and premieres on October this year.
